Myth: Egg yolks are unhealthy.
Fact: Egg yolk is rich in vitamins A, D, E, K, and B 12, and minerals such as folate, iron, and riboflavin. One large egg has approximately 185mg of cholesterol, all of which is in the yolk. But dietary cholesterol is not the major cause of unhealthy blood cholesterol.
Myth: Eating only egg whites is healthier.
Fact: While egg whites are a good source of protein, the yolk contains many essential nutrients that are not found in the white part. Therefore, consuming the whole egg can provide a more balanced nutrient intake.
Myth: The quality of egg yolk depends on the quality of the hen’s life.
Fact: The quality of an egg, including the yolk, can indeed be influenced by the hen’s diet and living conditions. Hens that are allowed to roam freely and eat a natural diet tend to produce eggs with more nutritious yolks.
