Disc Prolapse (Herniated Disc)

Overview

Most common in the lumbar spine, but can occur in the cervical region too. Risk increases with lifting heavy loads, obesity, and age-related wear.

Causes

  • Repetitive strain or trauma
  • Sudden heavy lifting
  • Poor posture
  • Disc degeneration

Symptoms

  • Sharp, shooting pain in legs or arms
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Muscle weakness
  • Difficulty bending or walking
