Overview

Common among runners, obese individuals, and those standing long hours. Pain is usually worse in the morning or after rest.

Causes

  • Excess body weight
  • Flat feet or high arches
  • Improper footwear
  • Overuse (running, standing jobs)

Symptoms

  • Sharp heel pain (first steps in the morning)
  • Pain decreases with activity
  • Stiffness in arch or sole
  • Swelling at heel
